Lingo Lantern
DISTRICT APPROVAL STARTER · CANYONS FIRST

Ready for review. Not yet cleared for classroom use.

Lingo Lantern now has a stable public evidence center for a proposed Grade 4 Mandarin DLI pilot. The product can enter formal review; a Canyons requester still must open the district workflows and receive written authorization before student use.

Current decision

The product and pilot materials are ready to circulate to a sponsor and district reviewers. Approval, curriculum adoption, contracting, and classroom authorization remain district decisions.

Public catalog check

A search of the Canyons public LearnPlatform library returned no result for “Lingo Lantern” on September 7, 2026. Recheck before submission because catalog status can change.

Two approvals, one controlled pilot

The software/privacy review and instructional-material review are separate gates. Complete both before scheduling learners.

District action required
1

Software and privacy

Canyons requires apps, extensions, and software to be reviewed in LearnPlatform. A district requester initiates the request; SaltMark responds to the vendor review and district-provided Data Privacy Agreement.

2

Supplemental instructional material

Canyons Policy 600.02 places supplemental materials under Instructional Supports approval. The school submits the instructional-material request and the district evaluates the product against its selection criteria.

⏱
Timing to plan around

Canyons posts quarterly LearnPlatform request deadlines. The next listed deadline after this review is December 1, 2026, and the district says notification may take up to 60 days depending on vendor DPA response.

Approval sequence

This order prevents a polished demo from being mistaken for authorization.

  1. Name the sponsor

A Canyons teacher, instructional coach, administrator, or content leader confirms the classroom need and owns the internal requests.

    Need sponsor
  2. Submit both district requests

Request software/privacy review in LearnPlatform and supplemental-material review through Instructional Supports.

    District login
  3. Complete vendor due diligence

SaltMark answers the district questionnaire and privately supplies legal business details, W-9, pricing, insurance, DPA, NDA, or purchasing forms as requested.

    Owner + district
  4. Validate language and access

A qualified Mandarin DLI educator signs off on the pilot content, while the accessibility test matrix is completed with the district’s target devices and assistive technology.

    Expert review
  5. Receive written authorization

Only then orient educators and begin the proposed four-week Grade 4 pilot.

    Do not skip
  6. Decide with aggregate evidence

Use implementation, child clarity, usable Mandarin, access, privacy, and teacher-value evidence to stop, revise, or consider expansion.
